Post-Halloween Wrap-Up
So usually on Halloween night I become irritated at the fact that I am being forced to have fun in a particular way, being the cranky control freak that I am, and I give up on whatver costume I had been imagining. Luckily that did not happen this year.

Sarah and I went to see Rasputina at the old Northsix and current Williamsburg Music Hall, dressed as Pete Doherty and Amy Winehouse. I had purchased fake teeth to wear, but upon placing them in my mouth I realized that they were made of candy, promising to render my actual teeth as grody as the fake ones i was planning on using to emulate Ms. Winehouse’s rather decrepit dentata.

The Rasputina show was great. I will absolutely never grow out of the way that they appeal to the 14 year old goth in me, and their sense of showmanship will always impress me in the same way that, say, Cher does. Melora Creager is a comedic genius, and can fucking shred on the cello. I’ve seen them over twenty times live, and I never get tired of it. This is mostly because I prefer live versions of their songs to the recorded ones, mostly do to what I think is a little overproduction. Live, it’s just two (or occasionally three) cellos and a drummer. And I can’t recommend it enough.

all images stolen from sarah’s flickr, because i am an awful photographer.
Brooklyn Vegan should have awarded us gayest portrayal of Amy Winehouse & Pete Doherty.
